A Frequently Asked Question

Question:

I have already written my paper and want to put it into PERRLA.

Answer:

It's much, much easier to write a paper directly into the PERRLA format and that is what it was designed to do. If you wish to cut and paste, here are the steps:

  • Start a new paper in PERRLA putting-in the appropriate title, etc. We'll call this one the "new" paper.
  • Open the paper that contains the text you would like to put into proper format. We'll call this one the "old" paper. You may have both papers open at the same time.
  • Print the reference page from the old paper, if you have a reference page.
  • Using the mouse and starting from the first page of text of the old paper, select the text to the end, not including the reference page.
  • While that entire area is selected, hold down the Ctrl key and hit the C key. That will copy the text to your clipboard.
  • Now switch to the new paper. With the cursor where it is, hold down the Ctrl key and hit the V. This will paste all the text into the new document.
  • Now you will have to enter the references. You can hit the Edit References icon for each one. This should be easy using the printed copy that you made earlier.
  • <
  • You will probably want to go back, starting at the beginning of the document, and redo your citations using the PERRLA Reference/Citation Wizard. Then they will all be correct.

That's it. You've "converted" your paper.
