A Frequently Asked Question

Question:

How do I create a Block Quote?

Answer:

PERRLA can take care of that for you. If you know that you are starting a quote of 40 words or more, then you can do this at the start. If you have already typed the quotation, then select it using the mouse.

  • Click on the PERRLA menu and select Change Format.
  • Read the text and then click OK.
  • Select "Block Quote 1st Para" (If the quote is more than one paragraph for all subsequent paragraphs select " Block Quote Subsequent Para")
  • Now everything you type until you hit the enter key is in the block quote format. Remember that these long quotes do not have quotation marks around them. You will put a citation at the end just like any other quotation.

That's about it. That Change Format section is useful for changing any formatting in the paper and making sure that it's an acceptable change.
