A Frequently Asked Question

Question:

I have Word 2007. Is there a shortcut to the APA functionality so I don't have to click the Add-Ins tab every time?

Answer:

Yes! You can add the APA PERRLA toolbar to the Microsoft Word 2007 "Quick Access Toolbar."

Right now you're probably asking, "What the heck is the Quick Access Toolbar?"

Good question.

The Quick Access Toolbar is a set of tiny icons found at the very, very top-left of the Word 2007 screen, right above the "Home" menu tab.

Follow these steps for a nice shortcut to your APA tools...

  1. Start APA PERRLA by clicking on the yellow PERRLA pencil, as always.
  2. Open an existing paper or create a new, throw-away paper.
  3. Click the Add-Ins menu tab.
  4. In the Custom Toolbars section of the ribbon, RIGHT-CLICK on the Create Citation toolbar item.
  5. In the pop-up menu that appears, choose "Add Group to "Quick Access Toolbar"

Now, whenever you want to create a citation, etc., you don't have to click on the Add-Ins menu.  Instead, you can click on the little icon above the Home menu to access the APA PERRLA toolbar.
