A Frequently Asked Question

Question:

I receive runtime error 70 Permissions Denied when I attempt to open my PERRLA paper.


Answer:

Runtime 70 Permission Denied relates to the security settings. Your login account on your local computer does not have full permissions to the location where the PERRLA software is being installed.

Are you the Administrator of your computer? Do you have permissions to write to your C:\PERRLA folder?

Make certain that you have permissions. Below are instructions to grant full permissions to your C:\PERRLA folder.

  • Log in using an account that has Administrator privileges
  • Right-click the Start button and choose Explore from the pop-up menu
  • Navigate to the PERRLA folder in the left pane.
  • Right-click on the PERRLA folder and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
  • You will see the Properties dialog box.
  • Click on the Security tab in the Properties dialog to access the security settings.
  • In the Group or user names list, click Users to select the Users group
  • After selecting Users, click the Edit. button to see the Permissions for PERRLA dialog box.
  • Click the Users group name to select it.
  • Click the Allow Full Control checkbox.
  • Click the Apply or OK button to give all Users full access to the PERRLA folder.
