Hi everyone –
When PERRLA started, the goal was simple: make APA formatting easy so students can spend their time and energy on more important things – like learning. For over 25 years, students have trusted us to save them time, reduce their stress, and help them submit perfectly formatted papers.
As part of that trust, we've worked to make sure that PERRLA remains accessible to students throughout their schooling. Once you subscribed to PERRLA, your price never went up – ever. We felt good about this decision, and we still do! It's the kind of thing we think a company who keeps their users in mind should do.
However, with increasing costs and the need to continue improving PERRLA into the future, we have to update our pricing model.
We want to do this fairly and transparently – and in a way that honors the students who helped us get here (you).
Here's what this means for you:
- The cost of PERRLA won't go up while you have an active subscription.Your current price stays locked in for as long as your PERRLA subscription stays active (i.e., doesn't expire). You can check your subscription here.
- Starting Jan 15, expired users will renew at our current pricing. If your account expires, you will have to renew with one of our current pricing options.
- We're sharing this early so you aren't surprised.Renew your PERRLA subscription before January 15 or turn on auto-renew before your expiration date to keep your existing rate moving forward.
Your support through the years has helped us build a sustainable company to help students succeed in school – a commitment we're working hard to continue.
This hasn't been an easy decision for us to make, but we hope you can understand why we've made it. And hopefully, you feel like this is a fair & transparent change.
Thank you for being part of the PERRLA story. Your renewals, referrals, and feedback have shaped everything we do.

Answers to a few questions you may have
What counts as an active subscription?
Any subscription that is currently paid for & not expired. If you renew before your expiration date, your current rate remains locked. Our Support team can help you verify your subscription status if you have questions.
How do I check my expiration date?
You can check your subscription status by clicking here. You'll see your status, expiration date, and auto-renew settings. If you have any questions, email our Support Team & we can help you ensure you're rate is locked in.
Does this affect 6-month or 2-year plans?
Yes – as long as your plan stays active, your current rate stays locked. If it expires after Jan 15, 2026, renewal will be at the current price.
I'm on auto-renew. Do I need to do anything?
Nope! If your auto-renew remains active and your payment method is valid, you'll keep your current rate.
Does this change school site licenses or organizational accounts?
No – organization pricing is handled by your institution.
Is Priority Support affected?
Nope – Priority Support continues as usual according to your plan.
Why are you making this change?
We want to keep improving PERRLA and support a sustainable, US-based team. Updating our pricing model helps us invest in new features and reliable support while honoring active customers from increasing costs.
