PERRLA Account

Customer Information

The only information we have about you is the information you provide us. We restrict access to your Private Information to our staff in order to service your account. Every staff member has signed a non-disclosure agreement, forbidding them from sharing any information about our customers.

We never share private customer information with third parties.

We have the ability to record the mouse movements and clicks of people on our website in order to analyze usage patterns. PERRLA maintains user content for at least one year after a user's account expires. If you would like to have your account information deleted from PERRLA, reach out to our Support Team (support@perrla.com) from your PERRLA account email to request your information be deleted.

PERRLA Communication

We understand that you only want to hear from us when you initiate contact.  

There are a few times when we send emails:

– monthly customer newsletter that contains an “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email
– renewal notice emails near the end of your subscription period, and onboarding
–tutorial emails to help new users learn how to use PERRLA.

Payments and Security

When processing credit card transactions, we use Authorize.net as our credit card processing company. Authorize.net is a subsidiary of Visa, Inc. so you can you be sure they keep your transaction data safe.

Authorize.net processes any recurring payments on our behalf.We do not store your credit card data on our servers. We only store the last 4 digits. No hacker could gain access to our system and retrieve your credit card data. Additionally, we maintain electronic, physical, and procedural safeguards to protect your Private Information in a manner compatible with industry standards for similar companies.

PERRLA Online and Word Add-in

When using PERRLA in our web-application (PERRLA Online) or in Microsoft Word (PERRLA Word Add-in), PERRLA can access the content and structure of your documents, references, and related features – including text, paragraphs, and formatting. PERRLA reads document content to identify existing citations and references. PERRLA writes to documents to insert, edit, and format content according to the appropriate style guidelines. When appropriate, document content is stored securely on PERRLA servers.

Data Accessed

PERRLA can access the content and structure of Google Docs documents where the PERRLA add-on is used, including text, paragraphs, and formatting.

Data Usage

PERRLA reads document content to identify existing citations and references. PERRLA writes to documents to insert, edit, and format citations and references according to APA/MLA style guidelines.

Data Sharing

Google Docs data is not shared with third parties.

Data Storage & Protection

Google Docs Content: All communications between the PERRLA add-on and PERRLA servers are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Document content is processed in real-time within Google's secure infrastructure and is not stored on PERRLA servers. PERRLA does not have access to your Google account credentials - authentication is handled securely through Google's OAuth system.

Reference Library Data: Your PERRLA reference library (citations and references you create) is transmitted between the add-on and PERRLA servers using HTTPS/TLS encryption. This data is stored securely on PERRLA servers to enable syncing across devices and platforms. Access to stored data is protected by your PERRLA account credentials and industry-standard security measures.

Data Sale Prohibition: PERRLA does not sell, rent, or trade Google user data to any third parties.

Limited Use: PERRLA's use of Google user data is limited solely to providing the citation and reference formatting features described above.

Data Retention & Deletion

Since PERRLA does not store Google Docs document content on our servers, there is no retained data to delete. To revoke PERRLA's access to your Google account, visit your Google Account permissions (myaccount.google.com/permissions) and remove PERRLA.
